The Scribbling Sage
To many, the idea that there is a problem with conservatism seems quite obvious. But it isn’t quite so obvious to others. How many are just programmed to think ill of liberals? And, on the other side of the coin, how many of us are programmed to think ill of conservatives? While I tend to agree with far more of the ideas that come from the conservative side of the aisle, the truth is that conservatives are getting quite a bit wrong while liberals are right about some things. This section of the site is devoted to the things that conservatives are getting wrong. I question the whole practice of labelling one another in the first place. Life isn’t as simple as we tend to try to make it. There are actually many layers and nuances unique to each and every one of us. Why would our politics be any different? To simplify our politics to liberal and conservative probably contributes to the problems we face. It tends to force a rigidity and extremism that otherwise may not exist if there wasn’t this pressure or expectation to belong to one group or the other. But, despite its shortcomings, it’s the system we have. Those are the cards we have been dealt. Therefore, I’ll gladly explain all the deficiencies of conservative thought as I see them.
